Rambling...

I'm sure that there are many reasons why people look forward to weekends. Activities that have been planned for weeks or months, special events, or just time to relax and get things done. For me, the real excitement is merely the warm fuzzies I get when I remember that I don't have to go into the office the next day. Sure, I do work Monday-Saturday but sometimes, if I'm super lucky, the fuzzies will start on Friday. That's the best! In comparison, being able to enjoy a Friday night without work stuff hovering over my head is like running out of school on the last day before summer vacation. Yah, it's that good! I love the thought of being able to spend entire days with my loved ones and do things at my leisure. Worry free.

Every Sunday, when reality begins to set in again, I utter the same words. "I wish today was still Saturday." My dad has always told me not to wish my life away, but I never seem to get far from doing so. Anticipation always gets the best of me. Back in my school days (a distant 5 years ago), if I had something planned for the weekend, I found it difficult to concentrate on important tasks or assignments because I knew if I was doing something more enjoyable, the time would pass more quickly. To this day, I still find it hard at times to consume myself with work when I know a more pleasing time or activity is calling my name. The weekend.

Whether it's school, work, or just plain life that we absorb ourselves into, a day or two off from the norm provides just enough relief to help us keep on truckin'. All we need sometimes is a break, no matter how it's spent.

Have a good weekend, everybody!
